Mike Windsor

If art is a journey Mike's trail began in Odessa Texas. He left the sand and jack rabbits and travled East to Fort Worth to attend Texas Christian University. Later he moved to Dallas to start a career as a graphic designer and raise a family but his art has never been far from his west Texas roots. He says about his work, "like to take a traditional subject and present it in a different way, using light, color and form to create a painting of interest that is more than just a picture. Texas offers an endless supply of subject matter and I find much of my inspiration by the side of the road. The haunting landscapes of the Big Bend, the falling down homes and automobiles rusting in fallow fields whisper of broken dreams. The sprit of native peoples walk in the hills and arroyos, wildlife, once abundant struggles to survive civilization, and the cowboys and cowgirls of the new west in silver buckles and rhinestone-studded leather, all blend into the tapestry that is my body of work."
