Hugh Gaither

Love for art and painting started while Hubert (Hugh) was growing up in Tupelo, Mississippi where he was born in 1934.

After high school, he attended Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio. After graduating he proceeded to Dallas, Texas where he embarked on an art career in Advertising Design. He was a partner in a graphic design firm for 27 years before he decided to devot all of his time to painting.

His love for the American heritage and the Southwest has always been at the heart of the subjects in his paintings. His desire is the share the simple life of early Americans, both the native peoples and the settlers of the American West.

His work is now presently exhibited in Nunnery's Gallery in Jackson, Mississippi and his paintings have appeared in the Salon International Show in San Antonio, Texas at the Greenhouse Gallery, the Conservatory Art Classic in Clifton, Texas, American Pains Artist Show in Midland, Texas, The Breckenridge Fine Arts Center, Breckenridge, Texas, and the Stars of Texas Show in Brownwood, Texas. He was invited to show in September 2006 at the Eiteljorg Western Museum in Indianapolis, Indiana for their first show of "Quest for the West."

His work is also displayed in homes and businesses throughout the country.

He and his wife Margaret now make their home and his studio in Clifton, Texas where he is continuing his love of painting. His philosophy in painting, "share the spirit of the moment."
