About The LA Thompson Gallery
Former Dallas artist and gallery owner, An Thompson, has joined the ranks of other artists fleeing the stress of the big city.
Thompson says she chose Clifton "because of the enthusiastic efforts by the Clifton Chamber of Commerce, city leaders and residents working to make Clifton an area attractive to the arts."
Located at 114 N. Main Street, the recently renovated building houses Thompson's exhibition gallery, frame business, and art services.
Thompson has a Masters in Art degree from West Texas A&M at Canyon, Texas where she was an art instructor before moving to the Dallas area. During her years in Dallas she owned and operated two galleries in the Uptown Arts District. She had also worked for five years as Creative Director of a large-image reproduction company.
Having grown up in neighboring Hubbard, An enjoys and practices the famous Texas hospitality. She loves to share her many art experiences and enjoys listening to other's viewpoints. Art education and the gentle critique are her forte. She sees the gallery's function as "one that goes beyond the business of showing art." She looks forward to contributing to the "Community Spirit" which she sees as Clifton's greatest asset. Visitors and friends are encouraged and welcome to drop by for an art chat.
"The number of professional artists living and working locally was also a major drawing point," Thompson said. The gallery seeks out exceptional work in all medias. Currently exhibited are paintings by David Sprague of Taos, NM and Mike Windsor of Clifton. Three-dimensional work in limestone and alabaster by Dallas stone sculptor Eliseo is also available. Sarah Russell's ceramics are a wonderful addition to the gallery.
